Maddie Lipp is busy preparing with her volleyball team for the region championship tomorrow but that wasn't all that was on her mind.
The senior committed to the University of Mary to continue her softball career. Lipp was the Lions' catcher and was the team's leader behind the plate. She had some offers from Division 3 schools and some walk on offers from North Dakota and Kansas. In the end, she had her reasons why she chose the Marauders.
"Probably the Catholic formation and the school. I really like the new coach, Coach Kelley. She's doing a lot with the program and she's really great. She knows a lot about the game. There was definitely a lot of deciding and discerning going in to the process but when I went to visit to Umary, I knew it was the place for me. I really like the people there and the formation of the faith. The academic stuff is awesome. The people down there really made you feel welcome and at home" Lipp says.
Maddie tells me she will likely play catcher and some infield for the Marauders but said that she'll do whatever the team asks of her.
