MSU Women Get Two Key Players Back From Redshirts

Posted: Updated:

There could be a theme song to this upcoming season of Minot State women's basketball: John Sebastian's "Welcome Back". Katie Hardy and Christina Boag both return after redshirt years to provide an important post presence down low for the Beavers. Add to the mix returning All-American Carly Boag and opponents will have their hands full on the blocks against MSU. Perhaps the biggest story coming into the season has been the dramatic change in Katie Hardy.

"I totally changed my eating habits. I worked out two to three times a day. I got a lot of shots up, especially with the shoulder, it took a lot to get my outside shot back but I made it my priority. This is what I'm here for, this is want I want to do," Hardy says.

Katie lost an amazing 90 pounds in the offseason. It's not just the girls up front that will be the strength of this team moving forward. Point guard Speedy Jones has improved according to Coach Green-Gerding. It's her team to lead. But, again, you can't stress how important it is to get Katie and Chris back. They're like two new recruits for coach.

"We really missed them last year. They contribute so much just in the area of rebounding, scoring, so many different facets of the game. They just stepped right in like they belonged there and we're all excited to see them," coach Green-Gerding says.

Minot State opens its season Friday against South Dakota School of Mines.
