School Raises More Than $1,400 for United Way Charity

Posted: Updated:

Every month, Solheim Elementary hosts a sprit day to celebrate accomplishments of the school and sometimes specific students.

Today's celebration was extra special, because Solheim Elementary received a plaque, t-shirts and pencils from the United Way Foundation.

"What we did was just encourage kids to bring in their spare change. And Solheim, we really foster the idea and the skills of being caring. So they jumped right on that, so they brought in their spare change and we were able to raise over $1,400 to donate to the Coins for a Cause," says Assistant Principal Alicia Overbeck.

Out of 21 schools in the Bismarck-Mandan area, Solheim raised the most money, raising the Coins for a Cause Campaign total to more than $14,000 for the United Way's Imagination Library.
