Governor Announces Completion of Lateral Pipeline

Posted: Updated:

Pipelines are nothing in new in North Dakota, but the Governor Dalrymple says new infrastructure plays a major role in reducing flaring. Today, the Governor along with officials from Alliance Pipeline, announced the completion of a new lateral pipeline.

The 80-mile pipeline will connect natural gas from the Bakken to Alliance's existing mainline which runs to processing plants and distributing lines near Chicago.

"Any large pipeline or any expansion of a processing plant is great news for us in North Dakota, because it means that we're going to be able to get our natural gas to market and we are going to be able to reduce the amount of flaring in North Dakota," says Governor Jack Dalrymple.

The $170 million project has not sent any gas through the new pipeline, however the Hess Corporation has purchased 50 percent of the flow for the pipeline. They have not announced when the first batch of natural gas will be shipped, but Hess is expected to make an announcement in the upcoming weeks.
