Dan's Garden: Fall Season

Posted: Updated:

Well, I love the fall season because the trees and shrubs are all changing color now, and it's a great time of the year.  But, it's also a nice time for us to kind of think about how our garden did during the summer and look at the fruits of our harvest.

It was a different spring.  It was cold, it was wet.  It was a slow start, then we had a lot of heat and scorch in July and August when we really needed the water, so we had to water a lot.  The mulch helped, and then in the fall, in the last six weeks or five weeks, we've had a lot of regain.

But yet, we've got pumpkins we grew and tomatoes and potatoes and carrots, and even horseradish and corn, zucchini, different types of squash and gourds.  So, somehow or other it has stood up pretty good.  But it was a different type of growing year.

Now next week on the garden show, I want to talk about how to over winter your roses, and how to protect your trees and shrubs and perennials for the winter.

Until then, good gardening.
