Amtrak Sees Increase in Passengers

Posted: Updated:

Keeping up with business after a natural disaster, like the 2011 flood is sometimes hard to do, but for the Amtrak in Minot, they've recovered. And, the numbers prove it.

Amtrak is happy to report that the ridership in the Minot community has rebounded. In the last year, more than 154,000 passengers have been taking advantage of the Amtrak system in North Dakota. And 41,000 of those numbers are coming directly from Minot passengers.

"One hundred fifty-four thousand eight hundred people riding Amtrak is more the population of most cities in North Dakota. So, we're an important part of the economy there. We recognize that. We're glad to run the service. And, we're happy to report these positive ridership numbers," says Amtrak media relations manager Marc Magliari.

Ridership numbers did drop in Williston. But, it is still the busiest station in North Dakota.
