Mugs and Hugs

Posted: Updated:

Growing communities can offer new and exciting opportunities, but it can also mean new risks for families to consider and worry about.  Most parents hope for the best but prepare for the worst. And that's exactly what families were doing today in Minot.

The 20th annual Mugs and Hugs event was held at the Dakota Square Mall in Minot.  The Police Department, Sheriff's Department, MInot State University, Clear Channel Radio and several other community groups came together to help parents build DNA kits for their children.  The kits included a set of their childs' fingerprints, A photo, a Strand of hair and their height, Weight and age.  Families can have the kits ready in case of emergencies.

"I believe in the program," says coordinator, Deb Jorde. "By bringing everyone together, and cooperating, it only creates a safer community, and with the changes in Minot and the area, I think that's necessary."

If parents or families were unable to make the Mugs and Hugs event at the Dakota Square Mall... Stop in at the Clear Channel Radio Station in Minot for a DNA kit.
