Rally Raises Awareness of Domestic Violence

Posted: Updated:
More than 50 people attended the Take Back the Night Rally this evening, hosted by the Abused Adult Resource Center on the south lawn of the State Capitol.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and in light of the occasion men, women and children held signs with domestic abuse statistics and promotions to end the violence.

Diane Zainhofsky, the executive director of the Abused Adult Resource Center, was proud of the rally turn out.

"We're hoping the community can see that there are a group of people in this community, that really believe that we need to end violence in our community," says Zainhofsky.

Rally members held signs, took part in a traditional Native American cleansing ceremony, called a smudging ceremony, and marched to the McCabe United Methodist Church for a program on the fight against domestic violence lead by Attorney General, Wayne Stenehjem, and Chief of Police, Dan Donlin.
