Students Dunk Faculty Members for a Good Cause

Posted: Updated:

High school students were really excited for lunch. Some even had special plans. The student council rented a dunk tank to raise money and make a splash for the Hope for Hannah group. Hope for Hannah was started after eight year old Hannah Miller's parents found out that she had bone cancer. Since July, Hannah has gone through numerous medical treatments and continues to go through many more to fight the cancer. But she's not doing it alone.

"Students are really drawn to helping other kids. And I know our high school, and I love Bismarck high, because our students at Bismarck high are so willing to give," says teacher Robin Nein.

"We wanted to do an event that brought the whole school together. And then bring out proceeds and donate them to a charity or someone in need," says student council president Kendra Hellebust.

Hannah's picture was posted throughout the halls and her cause was broadcasted all day to make sure students understood the purpose of the day's event, helping a little Sunrise Elementary student

"It's a good cause to donate for. And a chance to dunk a teacher is quite a good thing to do," says student Madelin Kopp.

The Hope for Hannah group will receive $578 from Bismarck High's dunk tank event. Spokesperson for the Miller family, Robin Nein, says the family thanks everyone for all their love and support. And appreciates all the well wishes as Hannah travels to Fargo for chemo treatment.
