School Board Election

Posted: Updated:

The Minot Public School Board voted Tuesday afternoon to conduct a special election on December 10th to decide whether or not the new school building bonds should be approved and whether the debt limit should be increased.

The board adopted a resolution to issue general obligation bonds in the amount of 125 million to add a new elementary school, a new high school and to update and remodel buildings. Voters will have to answer two questions on the ballot regarding the bonds and debt limit.

"We encourage people to get out and vote. Whatever side of the issue you're on, the magic part of this process, this is ultimately a say of our community, to what direction they want to see the school district go. We ask people to become educated and to learn about the facts, learn about where enrollment numbers are and to be an active member of the process," says Mark Vollmer, Minot Public Schools Superintendent.

The approved polls will be at following elementary schools Bel Air Elementary, Bell Elementary, Edison Elementary, Lewis & Clark Elementary, Longfellow Elementary, McKinley Elementary, Perkett Elementary, Sunnyside Elementary, Washington Elementary, Erik Ramstad Middle, and Jim Hill Middle. The polls will be open at 7:00 AM and will close at 7:00 PM.
