Grants Awarded to State Airports

Airports across North Dakota were awarded grants totaling over $11 million for improvements and construction projects. 

The following grants were awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration:

 

  • Bowman County Airport Authority is being awarded a $4.6 million grant to help construct a new airport to help meet aviation demand in the oil patch. The funding will be used to pave the new 5,700-foot runway and a connecting taxiway and apron.
  • Bismarck Municipal Airport will receive almost $2.1 million to rehabilitate taxiways and expand the access road to improve access to the airport hangar area and $200,000 for assessments on the proposed general aviation apron expansion.
  • Dickinson-Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport will receive almost $1.7 million for acquisition of easements to improve approach protection, to construct a new equipment building, design the expansion of the general aviation apron and the first phase of a runway extension project and $200,000 to update the existing master plan to identify future airport needs.
  • Oakes Municipal Airport will receive over $1.5 million to rehabilitate the runway, taxiway and the apron. 
  • Tioga Municipal Airport Authority will receive $300,000 to update the master plan to identify future airport needs and to conduct runway end survey evaluation to make the airport more accessible to pilots.
  • Watford City Municipal Airport will receive $150,000 for the final design phase of a drainage plan, to rehabilitate the existing apron pavement.
  • Casselton Regional Airport Authority will receive $117,000 to rehabilitate the apron, the runway and the taxiway.
  • Cavalier Municipal Airport will receive $116,422 to rehabilitate the runway, taxiway and the apron asphalt.
  • Linton Municipal Airport will receive $29,700 to repair cracks and seal portions of its runway, apron and taxiway.

The grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation with funds appropriated by Congress.
