Don't Buy It, Until We Try It: Ruggies

Posted: Updated:

It doesn't matter if it's on a hardwood floor or on carpet; rugs always seem to slide around when you step on them.

"In the past, we've used double-sided tape, but that just wrecks the floor," says Lance Klabo, Conlin's Store Manager.

To prevent them from slipping and sliding, Klabo has found ways to secure rugs in place.

"We put part of the rug underneath the sofa to hold it in place. And so, it won't move around."

But, he's always looking for new ways to keep rugs in place.  So, we decided to try out Ruggies, the reusable rug grippers.

"They already feel sticky inside of the cellophane," says Klabo.

After we had all eight of the rug grippers out of the box, it was time to figure how to use them.

"They kind of feel like those little spiders you had as a kid that you stuck to the wall," says Klabo.

We removed the protective backings from four of the rug grippers.  But, we still had some extra pieces we didn't know what to do with.

"Well, it seems to be self-done except we have extra parts," says Klabo.  "We're not sure what they're for.  We have an idea.  It's to cover up over the top of these, so we may decide not to use these."

Once we secured the fourth and final Ruggie in place, it was  time for the slide test.  But, even with the four Ruggies in place, the rug still moved around.

"They stuck to the flooring, but not the rug.  It's just not sticky enough to stick to the fabric."

So, this week's "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It," earns a thumbs down.
