Brown Bag Lunch Series Wraps Up

Posted: Updated:

On a nice Wednesday like today, many people are spending their lunch break on the lawn of the Burleigh County Courthouse. No, they're not paying their tickets; they're enjoying a concert.

"It's a great way to spend your lunch hour because you can get away from the phones, your desk, whatever you have going on and come and relax. And music is well known to be something that just can put you in the relaxing mood so it's a stress reliever. It's mental health, it's great mental health," says Eileen Walsh.

The concert was the last of a six-week Brown Bag Lunch Series. The public listened to different local artists perform.

"We bring them out to get them an opportunity to perform and do what they do and love and also so the people of all ages and of every flavor can come down and watch music, watch dance and see what the arts are all about in Bismarck," says Walsh.

It's not just the arts that people enjoy. Many employees from the surrounding businesses come here to relax on their lunch break.

"It's been beautiful weather this summer, so we've really enjoyed getting some fresh air in the middle of the day," says Sharon Schiermeister.

Walsh says she's planning on jazzing up the series for next year so more people will come.

"I like it because we have a lot of great artists and a lot of talent in this community. And to be able to showcase it and share with all the people of Bismarck. We hope the arts will grow and more people will support the arts," says Walsh.

Randy Sutton was today's musician. He played guitar and sang country western music.
