North Dakota State Fair Wraps Up

Posted: Updated:

"Oh it's so great to see the smiles on these people's faces, young, old and in between," says Renae Korslien, North Dakota State Fair General Manager.

Nine days dedicated to putting smiles on faces and creating memories- that's the North Dakota State Fair. For fair staff, it's another year of a job well done.

"It is another wonderful feeling of satisfaction. We have an incredible staff who works very hard all year long," says Jennifer Hubrig, North Dakota State Fair Marketing Director. "Everyone from our office staff, to our grounds crew staff, they are very very passionate about the fair."

The State Fair has offered everything from carnival rides, to food, to great shows and agricultural exhibits, but the state fair staff is always on the lookout for what changes can be made for next year.

"We try to look at what people really enjoyed and what people maybe didn't like as much, and tweak that for future years," says Hubrig.

"And yet you've got to have your staples, people want to come back for that corn dog, people want to come back for that caramel apple, so it's change and tradition," adds Korslien.

Whether it's adding something new, or sticking with an old classic, the most rewarding thing for the staff is seeing the months and months of planning come together.

"Yes it's very satisfying to see all that hard work you put in come together, and to see the people come through the gates, take picture and enjoy it," says Hubrig.

"I believe it makes us all feel wonderful, when the fair can end, it isn't all about attendance, but when the fair can end and people had a great time, they got home safely, we all win," says Korslien.
