BND Encourages Parents to Start Saving

Posted: Updated:

Families are trying to paint a bright future for their children.  And, they're doing it all at the monster mural near the North Dakota State Fair Center.

College SAVE is a state-owned savings plan through the Bank of North Dakota that encourages families to start saving for their child's college education at a young age. The program offers families tax advantages and grant programs through the state.

"We're encouraging families to save $25 to $50 a month and start as early as possible so that when it comes time to go to school, they want to take out as much student loans and incur such a high cost of education," says College SAVE plan administrator James Barnhardt.

During the fair, College SAVE is giving away three $529 savings accounts. For more information, visit their booth at the fair or visit collegesave4you.com.
