Walck Enters Guilty Pleas

Posted: Updated:

A man who fired at an Idaho state trooper and then led police on a three-day manhunt pleaded guilty in Bismarck this morning for crimes committed shortly before he was caught.

Mitchell Walck was captured by Bismarck police in December. He still faces other charges of shooting at the trooper, kidnapping a woman, stealing her car and fleeing the scene.

He was spotted in Bismarck several days later after a truck driver found him inside his truck.

The driver says Walck pointed a handgun at him and threatened him. Walck then fled and hid under a pine tree.

He was charged with multiple felonies.

"As to the charge of terrorizing, how do you plead?"
"Guilty."

"As to the charge of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, how do you plead?"
"Guilty."

"As to the charge of possession of stolen property, how do you plead?"
"Guilty."

"As to the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, how do you plead?"
"Guilty."

Prosecutors say authorities found a pistol in Walck's waistband and found several more firearms in the trunk of the car that had been stolen in Idaho.

Walck had recently been released from prison in Montana after serving a ten-year sentence for assaulting a peace officer.

He will be sentenced on the Bismarck charges later.
