Whiteshield Pleads Guilty in Death of Spirit Lake Toddler

A St. Michael woman has pleaded guilty in a case that left a toddler dead on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation. Hope Louise Tomahawk Whiteshield, 32, has pleaded guilty to felony child abuse and witness tampering.

Lauren Whiteshield was almost three years old.  She and her twin sister had been allowed to return to her family after being in foster care.

Whiteshield hasn't been sentenced yet, but under a plea agreement will likely serve at least 25 years.
