Jensen on Walter Payton Award Watch List

Posted: Updated:

The Walter Payton Award is presented by the Sports Network to the most outstanding player in F.C.S. Football. North Dakota State's Brock Jensen is on the 2013 watch list.

Jensen has quarterbacked the Bison to back to back national championships. The senior is 32-5 as a starter, and he was the M.V.P. in last year's title game.

The quarterback position is a complicated one, just ask Brock's back-up, Century's Carson Wentz.

"You have to understand full concepts rather than some little here and there, and for us, Brock & I, to understand what the defense is in and make checks at the line of scrimmage for the run game. For us personally, the run game with the checking like which direction is pretty big, and we just have to understand and be a leader more than anything, because we are not going to go out there and throw fifty times a game. We just have to be precise and just move the change."

The Bison open the season at Kansas State on August 30th.
