Newell Named Head Coach

Posted: Updated:

There might not be a noticeable difference to people outside the program, but beginning next fall Dennis Newell will be the head men's and women's cross country coach for the University of Mary.

Newell has been the associate head coach since 2006, and has helped guide the Marauder women to four straight appearances at the national meet.  U-Mary's best finish was 5th in 2011.

In his time with the cross country teams, Newell has coached six All-Americans, thirty-eight All-Conference selections and two conference champions.

Newell will continue as an assistant track and field coach in charge of distance events under Mike Thorson.
