Walker Ties for Girls Coach of the Year

Posted: Updated:

There was a three way tie for Girls Athletic Coach of the Year, and one of the winners was former Century head track coach Nick Walker.

Walker guided the Patriot's girls track and field team to its third straight state title this year.

Century had an athlete finish in the top three in 14 of 19 events, leading to a more than 100 point win at the state meet.

"We've had kids that bought into the team concept that when they get third or seventh at the state meet, they know they scored points for the team, and they move onto the next event. We've had kids that have sacrificed probably some individual glory to run some relays, but we've had a good group of kids that have bought into the team concept of track," says Walker.
