Safety Council Teaching Class

Posted: Updated:

The safety council has now been teaching the class across the state for the past 8 months.

During the six hour course, participants learn how to spot a predator, and how to avoid dangerous situations.

They then spend time learning practical skills to get away from a predator.

Participants learn where to hit a predator, so they can escape, and what to do if the attacker has a weapon.

The instructor says the safety council wanted to create the course for one reason.

"North Dakota has one of the fastest growing crime rates in the United States per capita. Bismarck, where I live, is one of the safest cities in the state, and last week they announced that we had a 17 percent increase in violent crime," said Class Instructor Don Moseman.

The safety council will continue teaching courses like this across the state. If you're interested in signing up, you can visit their web site at www.ndsc.org.
