Cattle Producers and Vets Discuss Bovine Tuberculosis

Posted: Updated:

Last week, we told you about a cow in south central North Dakota that tested positive for Bovine Tuberculosis.

Tonight, cattle producers and veterinarians attended a meeting to share information and answer questions about that case of TB.

"We want to let them know that we found the animal that we're concerned about, and there's been no indication of spread within the herd. But additional testing will be done, and we'll make sure before we release any movement restrictions that there is no TB spread in that herd," says state veterinarian Dr. Susan Keller.

North Dakota has been recognized by the federal government as being TB-free since 1976.

A state must have at least two herds test positive for the disease within two years to lose that status.
