Inside Business: Flash Printing

Posted: Updated:

The presses are rolling...but the ink isn't just on the paper.  You can also find it in Roger Kubik's blood.

"It's a fun business."

Kubik started Flash Printing in 1975 after working in another local print shop.  One small, used printing press built his business, helping it expand from one employee to ten.  But that's not the only thing that's changed, so has printing technology.

"It changes almost every week it seems like," says Kubik.

There's a reason they call it Flash Printing.  Kubik says these high-speed copiers can produce up to 120 color impressions per minute.

And those colors are in high demand, as clients come to Flash Printing for both corporate and personal printing needs.

"We do a variety of everything.  Letterhead, envelopes, raffle tickets, Christmas letters, church bulletins," says Kubik.

They print wedding invitations as well And with two full-time graphic artists, they can also help customers out with the design process.

"Styles change.  Paper changes.  People like different designs.  We got good employees that know how to design the stuff," says Kubik.

After nearly 40 years of meeting with customers to go over their print jobs, Kubik says much of his business has gone digital, and clients often email their designs to the print shop.  While Kubik agrees it's an efficient way to do business, he does miss talking to his customers face to face.
