Neighbors React to Wounded Man in South Fargo Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Some people in South Fargo are rattled tonight after a man showed up in their neighborhood with a gunshot wound.

The man is being treated after being shot in the leg around 4:30 this afternoon at the Loaf N Jug on South University Drive in Fargo.

Police say friends of the victim drove him to his home in the Countryside Trailer Court, East of 25th St South, near The Hub and Big Top Bingo.

That's where Valley News Team's Hope Hanselman spoke with police and neighbors.

"I was like, this is ghetto now, this is scary," Linda Dier, a neighbor, said.

Rain poured on this Countryside Mobile Home Court as fear welled up in the eyes of these neighbors.

"Yeah, I was scared my little sister started crying," Jennifer Francis, another neighbor, said.

They watched a crime scene unfold outside their window.

"I saw a car pull up and they dropped that guy on the blue porch and he had blood around his calf," Dier said.

Across the street from Francis and Dier's home, Fargo Police say the shooting victim waited for an ambulance to arrive.

"He had been shot in the leg prior at a separate location," Pat Claus, Deputy Chief for Fargo Police, said of the victim. "He had been believed to be at or near the Loaf N Jug on South University Drive."

They say the shooters took his wallet and cell phone before pulling a gun on him.

That's when police say his friends dropped him off at this trailer park and called police.

"We don't want the neighborhood to be a bad environment to live in," Dier said.

The victim, who hasn't been identified, was taken to Essentia Health, where he was alert conscious-- enough so to describe what happened.

Early reports suggest investigators could be looking for a blue Tahoe with front end damage and they aren't saying anything about suspect descriptions.

Update

According to deputy chief Pat Claus, the shooting occurred at the Loaf 'N Jug on South University Drive. Two males of unknown description are suspected. The victim was transported to Countryside Trailer Court by friends following the shooting.

The victim was reported to be awake and conscious when he was transported to Essentia Health with a gunshot would to the leg.

No names have been released at this time.
