State Track and Field Meet Team Results

There is never any shortage of excitement at the state track and field meet, and that was true on the second and final day of competition on Saturday.

The Century boys won their first ever state championship, ending Bismarck High's streak of 11-straight titles.

The Patriots also won the Class-A girls title, which is their 5th straight.

In the second event of the day, the 4x200 relay, the Dickinson Trinity boys set a new Class-B state record of 1:29.90. They broke their own record that they set yesterday in the prelims.

"People seemed close to me so when I got it I was just planning on running as hard as I could to get in front and just run," said sophomore Dawson Kram. "It feels really good. It was there a long time. It was our head coach's first year so he was really thrilled when we did it."

Century's Andrew Steinwand had the top time in 300 hurdles for most of the year and he proved it Saturday, winning the event in his personal best time.

"It's always good to have great competition. The hurdles were strong this year. It definitely helps you in training as well, knowing that there's someone else out there trying to get better," Steinwand explained. "I'm elated and [feel] a little bit of relief. A lot of pressure coming into today having the top time all year. I'm just relieved and happy I got it done for the team."
