Announcing that you’re bringing a Northwoods League team to Bismarck is the easy part, and it’s already been done.
Now the work to making it a reality for the summer of 2017 is underway. League representatives and Bismarck’s General Manager met with the Bismarck Sports Commission April 19.
The team has a couple of important items on the “to-do” list, "The biggest steps would be launching our website in June and the name the team contest. We really want to come here in September kind of having a team, a logo and a brand to start building around and the second piece is finalize our staff and just getting ready for September,” said Bismarck GM John Bollinger.
That’s when Bollinger says they will set up the front office. One of the things the Northwoods League is known for is working with the established teams already in town.
They really make a lot of effort to coordinate with our local baseball. What they’ll do is get the local baseball schedule and then they will work off of that and they’ll fit in dates that will mesh in with our Gov’s schedule and whatever other games we play at Municipal Ballpark," said Steve Chuppe, President, Bismarck Baseball Boosters.
The Northwoods League is a summer season for college athletes looking for experience with wooden bats.
