NBC North Dakota Sports will be talking about the NDSU-UND football game every day this week leading up to the live statewide coverage on Saturday. It will be their first meeting between the teams since 2003.
The Bison are coming off their first win of the year, a dominating 41-14 performance against Weber State. The head coach was happy with the running game.
"How we were able to convert on third down and shoot we held the thing for over 40 minutes which usually leads to a pretty successful day," said Chris Klieman. "Then on defense one key thing that we talked about we didn't do well against Montana which we had to do is win on third down and get off the field. And I think those guys were one for 13 and we got off the field and got the ball back to our offense."
It did not take long for the subject of this week's opponent to come up at Monday's news conference.
"It's a big game in the fact it means a ton to our university and it means a ton to our alumni that played in this," Klieman said. "But at the same respect, we're not in the same conference. We're not both competing for standings in the old North Central Conference, so our guys will understand especially the kids from North Dakota and Minnesota, they understand the importance of the rivalry."
NBC North Dakota Sports will televise the game statewide on Saturday. KFYR-TV in Bismarck, KQCD-TV in Dickinson, KUMV-TV in Williston, KMOT-TV in Minot and KVLY-TV in Fargo begin live coverage on September 19 at 1:30 p.m. CST with the hour-long Farmers Union Insurance Bison Pre-Game Show.
Kickoff should be at about 2:35 p.m. CST.
