Class B Girls State Basketball

As it’s a very busy week for basketball across the state, the Class B girls begin their state tournament on Thursday, which is also the same time the Class A team starts the West region.

Shiloh Christian will once again be representing Region 5 at the Alerus Center.

The Skyhawks qualified for state by beating Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky in the title game last week, and like most good teams, Shiloh has some seniors it relies heavily on.

Head Coach Daryl Bearstail says “Krista Ulmer’s been playing excellent the whole year. She’s our floor leader. She’s a good leader all around. All of the girls respect her a lot and they follow her. Allie Mischel is also a good leader. She’s been pretty consistent as far as her defense and helping with the chemistry on the team.”

The Skyhawks match-up against Rugby in the opening round in Grand Forks on Thursday, which will be the final game of the opening round.

The Trinity Titans play the opening game against Watford City who is the number 2 seed, Carrington was drawn to play the 3 seed, which is Park River-Forveille-Lankin, and North Star is the top seed.
