It's the fourth straight trip to the NAIA National Softball Tournament for Dickinson State.
The Blue Hawks are in Redding, California for the Simpson Regional.
The region is a four-team, double-elimination bracket which you have to win in order advance to the World Series.
DSU's opening round game against Oregon Tech was scoreless until the fourth inning and that's when the Hustlin' Owls took advantage of a trio of Blue Hawks errors, plus a three-run homer helped them build an eight-run lead.
Dickinson State came back with three-in the fifth but in the end, Oregon Tech wins 12-3.
After the game, Head Coach Kristen Fleury said it's tough to overcome a big inning like that.
"Absolutely, you can't give good team second opportunities. They took advantage of our miscues and credit to them and when you give up 8-unearned runs with two out it's hard to fight back after that. I just think we can't look back on the mistakes and we just have to get better from them. Every team is here for a reason. They're all good teams and like I said when you give good teams second opportunities and they take advantage of it they're going to come out on top so we have to play a one game season from here on out now," said Fleury.
The Blue Hawks play again May 17 against Eastern Oregon.
It is an elimination game so DSU has to win or the season is over.
