Williston Teacher, Coach Pleads Not Guilty to Sexual Assault Charges

A Williston High School coach arrested for having sexual contact with a 18-year-old has pleaded not guilty.

Williston police say Walter Eldridge was arrested on April 26 on a misdemeanor charge of sexual assault. They say Eldridge inappropriately touched an 18-year-old girl in December.

The investigation is still open and the defense has asked the court for a jury trial.

Eldridge has posted his $1,500 bond. The 33-year-old is not allowed to contact any Williston High School student as a condition of release.


ORIGINAL STORY: A Williston High School Basketball Coach has been arrested on a misdemeanor sexual assault charge.

Williston police say earlier today, they arrested 33-year-old Walter Eldridge.

They say he had sexual contact with a female last December, knowing the contact was offensive.

Eldridge is the head coach of the Williston High School Girls Basketball team, as well as an English teacher.

The school's superintendent cannot go into detail about the case, and the investigation is still open.

Eldridge is being held at the Williston Jail and a bond hearing is expected within 72 hours.

He is not allowed to contact any Williston High School student as a condition of release.
