Every angler dreams of landing the big kahuna. One Williston Fisherman fulfilled that dream this weekend.
Grant Werkmeister has fished for the last 20 years. He says he's caught plenty of paddlefish along the way, but none will beat the whopper he landed May 7.
The big fish weighed in at 131 pounds, which is expected to be a state record once the paperwork has been filed with the Game and Fish Department.
"I'm still up here about it right now. I mean, I can't, I've got nothing to say, I've been doing it all my life, never expected to pull something like that out of the water. It was amazing. All the guys down there, I thank them for helping me with it, there was a great group of people I was with, said Werkmeister.
Werkmeister got to take home about 27 pounds of fish, which he expects to cook in a smoker.
