A Bismarck apartment building was evacuated today after a garage caught fire.
Bismarck Fire crews were called to the 100 block of Bismarck Expressway around 11 o'clock this morning.
Officials say three detached garages were on fire, and it took them about 20 minutes to get it under control. Three engines and about 20 firefighters tackled the blaze.
Three garages had direct fire damage and another four had heavy smoke damage.
"We did evacuate the apartment just for precautionary measures until the fire was under control to make sure we didn't get anything spread from the detached garage unit to the apartments to be safe we wanted to make sure there would be nobody that would have any problems that would catch on with the apartment complex" said Bismarck Battalion Chief Brooks Martin .
The cause and cost of damage from the fire is still under investigation.
No one was injured.
