Minot police say a woman was able to fend off an intruder Wednesday night.

They say officers responded to a panic alarm at a residence in the 700 block of 12th Street NE at around 7 p.m.

The 29-year-old woman said a man attacked her and struck her in the face with a blunt object as she stepped outside to tend to her dog.

The man knocked her down the stairs and entered her home, but she was able to get to a handgun, and he left after she aimed it at him.
