Minot Soccer Olympics Score Big with Area Children

The first ever Minot Youth Soccer Olympics took place Saturday afternoon.
Learning the basics and creating a love for the game, were the goals of more than 150 kids from the Minot area that took to the turf at All Seasons Arena.
Kids ages 4 to 12 were perfecting their soccer skills, working on dribbling and ball control, shooting and speed.
Minot's Youth Soccer program has more than doubled in just a few years. And league officials say they want parents to know the benefits of playing soccer.
"The one thing I think people should understand is that our kids that travel go on to play Varsity everything," said Jason Spain, from Minot Youth Soccer Association. "It really teaches the kids to move for baseball, basketball, football. I don't think a lot of people understand that because soccer hasn't been popular here for that long. But if you want you kids to get their feet to move they should play soccer."
