After 42 years with the Mandan Police Department, Chief Dennis Bullinger announced his retirement tonight.
Bullinger began his career as a Mandan Patrol Officer in 1974 and worked his way up the ranks and was named chief eight years ago.
His last day on the job will be on Dec. 28 and staff will use the time to find and hire his replacement.
"This wasn't easy, it's still not easy for me to say I'm done at the end of the year. So, I want to thank you and thank the committee for their support for the last 42 years," said Bullinger.
Multiple commissioners said Bullinger was fair-minded, patient and thoughtful during his time with the department.
