Mandan Junior High Converted to Affordable Housing

More affordable family housing is coming to Mandan.

The former Mandan Junior High School was recently donated to Mother Teresa Outreach, an organization formed through Spirit of Life Catholic Church.

They plan on renovating the school to make 62 low-income family apartments.

Monsignor Chad Gion says the organization hopes to complete the re-purposing project in a year.

But the privately funded project will need support of the Bismarck-Mandan community.

"Costs for the renovation will likely be between $7.5 and 9.5 million, which is significant cost and so we'll need the support of the community to make this succeed," said Monsignor Gion.

Monsignor Gion says the community can help by offering prayer for the success of the project, but eventually they will need volunteers for clean up and other projects and financial support.
