A man was arrested in Mandan after police say he assaulted his girlfriend and her son when she attempted to break up with him on Tuesday.
Police say the woman was in a relationship with 39-year-old man for six weeks.
When she tried to break it off, Stephen Berry got angry and hit her head and face.
During the assault he also threatened to put her in a body bag and throw her in the river.
Police say Berry also told her 2-year-old son to go to his room so he wouldn't see his mama die.
The toddler had injuries to his neck, stomach and back from being grabbed by the suspect.
Berry is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Morton County Correctional Center and was charged with simple assault, terrorizing and child abuse.
