Law enforcement were dispatched to Knife River Company in Williston on Tuesday evening for an attempted robbery report.
Former employee Stacey Ashinhurst, 45, was found inside the building. Workers confronted Ashinhurst about being inside the building, at which time Ashinhurst drew a semi-automatic handgun then fled the scene.
Ashinhurst fled to his residence located in the 5400 block of Snowy Water Lane, where officers made contact with Ashinhurst by phone and attempted to talk him out of the residence. During the process, Ashinhurst stepped outside and fired off one round into the air from his semi-automatic pistol.
Law enforcement was able to convince Ashinhurst to exit the residence. He was taken into custody without incident.
Ashinhurst is being held at the Williams County Correction Center on charges of Class C felony reckless endangerment, Class C felony terrorizing and a Class A misdemeanor criminal mischief.
