Alan, the fire broke out earlier today near the Tobacco and Garden Resort, but firefighters there seem to have it under control. Watford City police blocked off the road near the fire, but clouds of smoke were visible from highway 1806.
McKenzie County's emergency manager Karoline Rockvoy says the fire affected about 3,000 acres of land. Fourteen water tanks Crews from multiple towns helped put out the flames.
No one was injured in the fire.
"Over by the resort, there are some homes and stuff, but the firefighters really focused on that area and kept the fire away from all those homes," Rockvoy said. "So it didn't jump the road in that area. All the homes have been totality protected by all the firefighters that we had."
The fire is contained, but crews will monitor the area overnight because of dry, windy conditions.
