Bismarck's Ethnic Heritage Honored at Founders Day

The city of Bismarck is turning 143 years old.

The Bismarck Historical Society honored the special occasion with its Founders Day celebration at the Bismarck Heritage Center. The event featured plenty of singing, music and performances by several cultural groups.

This year's theme was "one community; many voices."

"This year, we are celebrating the rich ethnic heritage that's Bismarck," said Kate Waldera from the Bismarck Historical Society. "We have the Swedish people, the Norwegian people, the German people, the Native American people. All the groups that were so integral in creating the city we have today."

This was the fourth annual Founders Day.
