Bismarck Public School Board Proposes 2 Calendar Options for Next Year

By  |

Changes are coming to the Bismarck Public School District.

The school board approved bids and activity style, large capacity and handicap bus. The three buses will cost the district a little more than $319,000.

Two drafts for the 2016-2017 school calendar were also proposed.

In the first draft, school would start on Sept. 2 and end June 1.

With option No. 2, school would start Aug. 25 and end May 26.

Committee members say the number of days off during the 2015-2016 school year are causing problems for business owners and parents who can't find daycare.

They say they prefer draft No. 2.

An email will be sent out this week and parents will be able to voice their opinion on the proposed changes.

The board will make a decision at its next meeting on Nov. 9.
