A portion of a $2 million grant from the Bush Foundation will be given to nine public schools in Bismarck and Mandan.

The money will go toward improving their Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) programs.

The schools that will benefit from the funds are: Bismarck, Century, Legacy and South Central high schools; Horizon, Simle and Wachter middle schools; and Mandan middle and high school.

AVID helps accelerate college and career readiness for students. It does this by giving students access to educators who can help them develop social, organizational and learning skills.
