Dickinson City Commission Considers Repurposing Old St. Joseph's Hospital

The Dickinson city commission is considering a project to repurpose the old St. Joseph's Hospital.

Axia Development wants to purchase the property and renovate it for senior and mixed income housing and office space.

The commission has approved the first reading.

The planning and zoning commission says it will be good for the city.

"it is a good reuse for the city its great to re-utilize some of the infrastructure and facilities that we have rather than either letting them turn into a blight, or wind up using them, letting them sit and then wind up having to abate them in the future," said Walter Hadley, Dickinson planning director.

The commission will review the proposal for a second reading tonight.
