Bismarck Police are investigating a computer scam that cost a resident more than $1,000.
Police say a 53-year-old Bismarck man was contacted by a person claiming to be support for software he installed on his computer.
Police say the suspect told the victim they would reimburse him money for the software, and instructed him to create an online bank account to do so.
Authorities say the victim sent a moneygram with a portion of the amount owed.
The victim told police the suspect contacted him again saying he would lock his computer until the remaining funds arrived.
Police say the victim brought his computer to the police for investigation, and has since created new bank accounts.
