Bismarck Community Celebrates Flag Day

Today is the 238th birthday of the star spangled banner.

Many families in Bismarck came together to celebrate Flag Day at the historic Governor's Mansion.

It was an afternoon of games, face painting, and even a parade around the neighborhood. Event organizers say the aim is to bring the community together and learn a little about our nation's history.

"Oh, it's wonderful as a state historic site located in one of North Dakota's urban centers, one of our goals is to be a community based attraction so we try to do things for families on a pretty regular basis," said Johnathan Campbell, Site Supervisor.

Flag day was established in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson.
