Dakota Carrier Network Grows | 12/27/2011
One broadband internet provider is nearly ready to move into a new large complex north of Bismarck.
After nearly a year`s worth of construction, Dakota Carrier Network`s new $10 million operations center north of Bismarck is taking shape.
"Have built a hardened facility to sustain the reliable high speed broadband services that our customers need," explained Seth Arndorfer, business development manager.
Dakota Carrier Network was formed in 1998 when 15 small telephone companies pooled their resources. The enterprize now supports several state agencies, regional banks and numerous businesses that need to have secure voice and data transmissions. The new 42,000-square-foot complex has plenty of backups ensuring that the company`s corporate clients will never lose internet or telephone service.
Arndorfer said: "Our building is built to withstand F-4 tornado force winds. The power is built in a redundant configuration. The cooling, everywhere as we walk through the facility, you`ll see two AC units in the data center.
The Operations Center includes plenty of backup energy as well, including reserve battery power and a one megawatt generator, with enough electricity to power 200 average homes.
Dakota Carrier Network serves more than 164,000 customers across the state. DCN staff plan to move into the new Bismarck complex after the first of the year.
