Patriots girls basketball prepares for WDA

BISMARCK, N.D. - The Century girls lost their final regular season game. It's the Patriots only loss of the year but it did not cost them the number one seed for the Region or the number one ranking in the final poll.

One also happens to be the point differential in that game against St.Mary's. It could prove to be a motivating factor for them heading into the playoffs.

Century Head Coach Ron Metz said: "That's the way we have to use it for. You take every game as it is. And, from each game you use that to build for the next game, and hopefully with what happened there we learned some things that we got to refocus on, and we're recharged and ready to go for Thursday."

Century has a number of seniors on the roster but for all but one of them this is their first varsity playing time.

"Us senior's have played together since we've been in kindergarten, so just having this moment together on the varsity all together is just really, really cool. And, we definitely had to wait our turn because there's been really talented athletes before us, but we're really honored to be here together," said CHS senior Bailee Otterness.

Century plays Dickinson in the opening round of the West Region on Thursday afternoon.
