BISMARCK, N.D. - About a month ago, round one went to Century. On Tuesday, the Patriots play Bismarck High in hockey with the West Region regular season title on the line.
Century beat the Demons 3-2 on January-5th but the two teams have 33-points each in the conference standings. The Patriots have 15-overall wins. BHS has won 14-times this season.
Century Head Coach Troy Olson said: "It's always great to play those guys. Great atmosphere and now that it means something coming down to the end of the conference here it's going to be a little extra special."
"I know there's a region title that both teams are trying to end up with but at the same time we're just both teams are trying to play better hockey and get ourselves ready for the tournament," said BHS Head Coach Mike Peluso.
Century senior Casey Foss said: "Rivalry night. It's always a fun one. There can be a lot of hype coming up to it, so it will be fun."
What was not fun, is what happened to both Century and Bismarck last week. They went to Fargo and went a combined 0-4.
"It just goes to show when you're not ready to play things like that are going to happen that's part of sports, you have to figure it out and anybody can beat anybody it doesn't matter when and where you just have to make sure you're ready to take care of business and take care of yourselves," said Peluso.
Olson said: "We learned a lot last weekend Lee.There's a different style they play out there, a lot better defensively. A lot more challenging for us to get pucks to the net and they played good defense in their end so it was a learning experience, and you have to work a little harder and make some adjustments but we did get something out of it."
The West Region is next week in Minot.
