Legacy girls hoops takes on Shanley in the State Finals

BISMARCK, ND - In Class A, two state champions will be crowned. On the girls side, Legacy and Shanley are the first ones to hit the court.

Well the Legacy Sabers really know how to get things done. On Friday evening they beat the Mandan Braves 67-65 in overtime. Well tonight, their next opponent is Fargo Shanley, a team that's pretty experienced when it comes to state tournaments. Joined with me now is Sabers head coach Jim Petrik, thanks for joining me coach. It's not going to be an easy game tonight, talk about this match-up.

"You know we're really excited to be here. You know we put two good games together to get this far. But our girls are hungry. You know our goal is to win three games, and that's the mindset. We got a good game plan for Shanley, but you know they got a heck of a tradition over there. Very well balanced, good guard play, good post play, so we've got our work cut out for us, but I like our chances."

Talk about some of your seniors, there's a lot of them on this squad, and a lot of good ones. What do you think that they need to do going down the stretch and in order to get that victory tonight?

"You know we are led by our seniors, our seniors we have eight of them, they started the program out four years ago, they set their goals pretty high, and we rely on them. obviously there's going to be some nerves, but that comes with championship basketball, so should be a fun night, we're glad to be here, and hopefully get the win."

Alright thanks so much coach, good luck tonight. And we'll have highlights from that game coming up tonight at 10:00.
