Department stores prepare for NFL playoffs

BISMARCK, N.D. - A big weekend of football is upon us, and with the Vikings and Eagles squaring off, many North Dakotans will be tuning in and wearing their team's apparel.

Eager football fans are heading to department stores to gear up for this weekend.

"Her mom had texted me and asked if I could go find her a purple Vikings shirt so it's what I'm on the hunt for," said store customer Heidi Rice.

Rice wandered into Scheels to pick up some apparel for this weekend's big NFC Championship matchup.

"We see a lot more people checking out the Vikings gear and and looking at different particular players jerseys. We also have a lot of our pro stuff in kids sizes as well so we're seeing a lot of traffic there too" said ScheelsEvent Coordinator, Beth Feldner.

Two of North Dakotas favorite teams, the Vikings and the Eagles will go head to head this weekend in the NFL Playoffs. But when it comes to Super Bowl VII people predict that the Vikings and the Patriots will be the ultimate match up.

The New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars are in Foxboro for kickoff at 2:05 p.m.

Later, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings will play in Philadelphia. Kick off is at 5:40 p.m.

"Just because of the popularity between the Eagles and the Vikings things, we are anticipating a big rush in one of those areas and so things are already in the works for this weekend to get started" said Feldner.
